A Clothing Quiz

How much of your wardrobe do you wear on a regular basis? Be honest. It’s impossible to wear 100% of it regularly. There’ll be special occasions and seasons that relegate some of your wardrobe to the back shelf for part of the year. But you should wear 80% of your wardrobe on a regular basis. Most people splutter in disbelief when they hear this. Take a calculator and total the cost of all the outfits you never wear or haven’t worn for a long time. I believe, with not much exaggeration, that you could buy yourself a round-theworld air ticket for the price of the wasted purchases.
Imagine being offered a blank cheque to replace your wardrobe. What percentage of it would you keep? 25%? Then you feel confident and happy wearing only 25% of your wardrobe. 80% of Our wardrobe should co-ordinate. If only 20% of your wardrobe co-ordinates, then you certainly don’t have much to wear.
Here’s a good tip. Make a list of the clothes in your wardrobe. Take this list with you when you go shopping so that you can build onto your existing wardrobe with ease.
How much high fashion should make a splash on your shelves? Trends are there to be used, not to be followed slavishly. So add a little fashion to your wardrobe each season, but make sure that the fashionable items you buy are the right style and colour for you and that they suit your lifestyle. It is pointless buying a bottle-green skirt with a black and purple shirt if these colours are completely wrong for you. Don’t shop impulsively!
You will find a formula that I have used since I was a young girl, which shows you how to achieve 75 completely different outfits using only 25 garments. I refer to this as my ‘x 3 principle’. You may very well have more than 25 garments in your wardrobe, but I want to prove that you can work with the minimum to achieve the maximum.
Build a wardrobe that really works and you will wake up every morning with the knowledge that no matter what happens during the day, you will always be ready for the occasion.
You will find wardrobe planning solutions, shopping guidelines, mix and match ideas and the grand finale on packing. Be it for a business trip or a casual holiday, this information will make every journey a pleasure.
Remember that there are two things that make you different: how you see the world and how the world sees you. Only once you’re sure of the path you’re on, can you dress for the journey. Have fun planning your wardrobe and shop with confidence!
