GENERAL WARDROBE GUIDELINES

Steer clear of most browns, beiges, khaki and cream tones. Your cool colouring looks freshest in blue- or pink-based colours. Great neutral foundations are navy and charcoal but soften their usually severe impact when they are worn with white and team them instead with mauve, pastel blue, rose pink or soft fuchsia.

Pastels are wonderful for your blouses, dresses or jackets. However pastels in a complete outfit aren’t strong enough for work, so they are not good choices for a suit. Over an aqua shift dress try a navy swing or `cardigan’ jacket.

Your red has a blue cast to it. The burgundies will work but test options out to ensure they aren’t too ageing.

Very sharp or bright colours can overpower you. Aim rather for richness and subtlety.

COMPLEMENTARY MAKE-UP

Light lipsticks will make you look older, so yours should match the intensity of your eyes. Brown-eyed Cool women can go for rich blue reds and plums for lipsticks and blushers, while blue-eyed women of this type are better in softer, rose pinks.

Dust your eye-lids with soft pinks and define with grey, navy or plum shadows. The same colours for eye-liners will frame your eyes best.
